TARGET: Mississippi Valley - type stratiform lead and copper mineralisation formed near the base of the Cambrian sedimentary sequence on the Ediacara structure. EXPLORATION: Initially, in 1962, the company reviewed the progress of then occurring SADM mapping and exploratory/appraisal drilling work, before taking up the subject licence by application made to SADM in August 1964, and then carrying out by further grid-based diamond drilling of 11 vertical holes for 6886 feet 7 inches over the period August 1965 to August 1966, to explore parts of the sub-basin not addressed by the SADM drilling campaign. RESULTS: Low grade lead mineralisation, to 1.05% Pb, was intersected by DDH E41 over the depth interval 690-760 feet in Cambrian dolomite on the north-western edge of the Ediacara structure. This intercept lies on the margin of the best mineralised zone identified by the earlier SADM drilling. Rare specks of galena were recorded in some of the other holes.
