TARGET: Evaluation and further exploration of the Ethiudna wollastonite deposit. EXPLORATION: Geological reconnaissance, relogging of drill core, a ground magnetic survey, and three campaigns of exploratory and resource delineation diamond drilling (26 holes totalling 1264 m). RESULTS: Two of the three zones of wollastonite which outcrop at Ethiudna have been shown by drilling to have substantial subsurface continuation, and an indicated open-pit mineable resource of about 1 Mt at +35% wollastonite grade has been established. A further seven smaller outcrops of wollastonite have been located within a 2 km radius of the principal occurrence, and it is considered that there is good potential for orebody extensions under alluvial cover. Marketing and metallurgical studies have also been undertaken. The ore beneficiation testwork carried out by Amdel Ltd used a representative 105 kg composite sample of halved drill core from 11 holes. A final product was obtained after serial separation which appears microscopically to be of good grade, with up to an 85-90% wollastonite concentrate achievable. The next stage of work will involve preparation of a pre-feasibility scheme for a proposed 20,000 tonnes per annum operation, which utilises the company's existing minerals processing plant at Burra.
