TARGET: The area of abandoned shallow historic workings for secondary copper and manganese ore aligned along a sandstone - dolomitic limestone contact on the western edge of Pernatty Lagoon. EXPLORATION: A field inspection of the above workings, followed by reconnaissance IP surveying over 45 square miles (10% of the area of the licence; 53.5 line miles of dipole-dipole IP coverage on parallel E-W traverses) plus soil sampling (290 samples collected) at 1200 foot intervals along the IP lines. RESULTS: At least 21 IP geophysical and 29 soil geochemical copper anomalies were found : 12 of the geochemical anomalies were correlatable with IP anomalies, and it was suggested that these could indicate buried higher grade lenticular copper mineralisation. Three areas of outcrop having good potential for finding large occurrences of remnant low-grade manganese and copper mineralisation were delineated. Further definition work on these, including trenching and drilling, was recommended. Preliminary estimates were made of the probable remaining ore reserves in manganese oxides (820,000 tons) and primary stratabound copper (395,000 tons @ 3.14% Cu).
