A collection of miscellaneous reports referring to geochemical sampling of costeans and exposed bedrock, drilling, mapping and petrology work that has recently been carried out in the re-developed Burra open cut copper mine. The focus of the work reported has been a feldspar porphyry intrusive body that was discovered when open cut mining was resumed, which is located in a position just below the base of the previous, historical open cut. This small porphyry plug contains the richest (10.6% Cu) primary copper sulphide concentrations yet found at Burra, and so is thought to represent the locus of the principal hydrothermal fluid conduit responsible for original orebody emplacement. As a preamble note to this report collection, there is a brochure which was also prepared by Samin Ltd in 1973, that gives brief summaries of the Burra mine history, geology, ore mineralogy, rock types, faulting, probable origin of the copper mineralisation, and the latest mining and ore treatment methods.
