Literature reviews, plus studies of photogeology and of drillhole data, have confirmed the existence of palaeochannels and of the selective accumulation of Tertiary lignites within a broad area that surrounds and lies to the north and west of Lake Anthony, but extensive Tertiary and Quaternary cover and a lack of modern drainage make the area unsuitable for heavy mineral sampling for kimberlite - type intrusive bodies.
