A trial ground magnet survey was carried out by the SA Department of Mines for Delhi Petroleum at Gigealpa during March-April 1964.Readings were recorded using a nuclear precision magnetometer mounted in a Mines Department Landrover. A loose grid consisted of lines approximately 800 m *1600 meters apart. Readings were continuously recorded but were extracted at approximately 80 meter intervals. Seismic lines established in the previously year (63-AR and AJ) were used as the axis for the survey grid. Issues involving a lack of control for diurnal variations, poor access along some unprepared grid lines, lack of survey and coordinate control were discussed and recommendations for future surveys of this kind were made
