AIM:The 1974 Everard Seismic Survey consisted of a detailed grid of 103 km over the Munyarai prospect, and a regional tie line of 54 km with outcrops at the rim of the Officer Basin, to investigate the possibility of a prospective Ordovician sequence lying below the total depth of Munyarai 1. METHODS: Survey dates: 19/10/74 - 26/11/74. Energy source: Explosive line source - Geoflex. CDP coverage: 600%. Recording mode: 24 channel digital - Geospace 1700 recorder. SP/VP interval: 200 metres, group interval: 100 metres. RESULTS:153.6 line km of semi-detailed reflection seismic coverage was acquired by Geophysical Exploration Services as programmed, and processed in Sydney by Geophysical Services Inc. The survey confirmed the validity of the Munyarai prospect as a fault trap with closure (conservatively estimated at 200 m in a vertical sense over some 39 square km), but provided no direct indication for the presence of a potential reservoir unit below the TD of Munyarai 1. Seismic evidence indicates that sandstones outcropping on the rim of the basin are equivalent to, or younger than, the Palaeozoic sequence encountered in Munyarai 1, and that the seismic character of the sedimentary sequence mapped below the well's TD is of similar character to the sequence of Devonian shales and siltstones with limestone stringers penetrated by the well for 1330 m above TD. Illite peaks measured on 13 core samples for an indication of thermal history did not yield a conclusive trend.
