Mapping was based on 3 divisions of Gambier Limestone (middle-upper boundary recognised in field by variations in chert content). Knight Group occurrences reported earlier (Env 0034) were found to overlie Gambier Limestone. Only known Knight Group outcrop is adjacent to Tartwarp Fault. A number of NW- trending anticlines were mapped SE of Mount Gambier. They occupy narrow zones adjacent to faults, having relatively by dipping steep SW, flanks flat crests, and gently dipping east flanks. the middle Gambier Limestone shows closure on a number of these anticlines. Oil shows are unlikely in Tertiary due to thorough flushing by pressure ground waters flowing from the east, which escape along south coast. Log of Nelson Bore (drilled just over SA/Vic border in Victoria) is appended.
