Report described the country between Cordillo Downs and Goyders Lagoon, and several reconnaissance journeys to establish a motor vehicle track between them. With the idea of using Marree as a railhead for operations in the Cordillo Downs area, the aim was to short-cut the existing track to the north via Birdsville, Cadelga, Betoota to Cordillo. This, it was estimated, would save about 220 miles.
