Details of available plans and maps; topography, access; topographical control. Geology: Basement Archaean gneisses, schists and igneous rocks, Proterozoic dolomites, slates and quartzites 0-2,000' below surface. Older Palaeozoic, possibly Cambro-Ordovician of Amadeus Trough (Mount Margaret?). Basin Sediments: Shales, siltstones, and mudstones overlying more or less consolidated sandstones. Structure: (Surface Exposures) (a) Oodnadatta Anticline. Buried basement ridge, NNW trend (Mount Dutton through Oodnadatta to Mount Alice); pitch reversal below Oodnadatta (b) Claypan Anticline. NNW trend; only E limb exposed; roughly parallel but some miles N of Oodnadatta anticline. (c) Beviss/Lucy Anticlinorium. 2 or 3 structures due to interference between normal larger anticlines. (d) Gidgea Anticline NNW trend; partakes in creation of Beviss/Lucy; axis from Mount Toodinna to just E of Mount Lucy. Other structures unmapped. Geophysics: Positive gravity anomalies: Denison/Dutton (coincides with (a); Carulina (NNW trend, no surface indications); Vera/Gypsum (approx. coincidence with (c); Eringa/Sarah (approx. coincidence with (b); Gidgea (coincides with (d). Gravity contours are quasi-structural contours. Seismic Programme: Across correlated structures (e.g. (a) or (d). Along roads or flat gibber plains. Tie in to bores and surface bedrock. Four traverses recommended (20+25+16+50=111 miles).
