The interpreted stratigraphic succession is as follows: 0-61 feet: terrestrial sands (Pleistocene-Recent); 61-180 feet: yellow-brown sands, clayey sands and grits (Loxton Sands, Upper Miocene); 180-195 feet: light grey-buff sands (? continental ? Bookpurnong beds); 195-235 feet: yellow limestone (marginal Pata Limestone, middle Miocene); 235-455 feet: grey marly limestone (Morgan Limestone, lower Miocene); 455-600 feet: grey glauconite and marly limestone, somewhat recrystallised (transitional Mannum Formation, or equivalents, lower Miocene); 600-700 feet: grey, becoming green-grey, glauconitic, marly limestone (Glenelg Group equivalent - Gambier Limestone and Ettrick Marls, Oligocene); 700-850 feet: dark grey-brown, medium silty, carbonaceous sands (paralic Knight Group); 850-1191 feet: grey-brown silty and carbonaceous clays passing down into grits (paralic Knight Group); 1191-1221 feet: chlorite-mica schist, weathered bedrock (Kanmantoo Group); 1221-1280 feet: quartz mica schist (? Kanmantoo Group). Note: Depth figures are unreliable due to inadequate, irregular, incorrect sampling and poor labelling.
