Haematite Petroleum Pty Ltd held extensive exploration areas offshore South Australia during the 1960’s to the late 1970’s. During their tenure of OEL 26, 2 reports were commissioned by Haematite, both completed by Lyman Reed. These were Geological Interpretation of the Offshore Otway Basin 1965, covering not only South Australia but areas offshore Victoria all the way to King Island in the Bass Strait. The second was titled, “Geological Interpretation of the NW Otway Basin, 1968” covering essentially the OEL 26 area of offshore South Australia. This later report was essentially a follow up to the drilling of the Crayfish petroleum well.
