3 213 km of offshore 48 fold CDP seismic, gravity and magnetic data were obtained. A number of closed structures were interpreted within an E-W trending Palaeozoic / Mesozoic graben, 100 x 30 km in area, which contains at least 5 000 metres of sediments. This basin is terminated by hinges at both ends, but extends to the west as possibly younger basin, and to the east, into the graben seen onshore containing Jurassic coal measures. 2 drilling locations were determined. The prospective section was interpreted as being a Cambrian evaporitic sequence, plus possibly also an underlying Proterozoic clastic sequence.
