Two production flow oil samples, one from the Jurassic Hutton Sandstone oil reservoir interval 5140-5160 feet in Kerinna 1, and the other from the Cretaceous Murta Member oil reservoir interval 3936-3976 feet in Limestone Creek 1, were analysed geochemically to characterise their compositions and to determine if any genetic relationship exists between them. The two oils were found to be very similar, both having been sourced from terrestrial organic matter, with the only differences being slightly different thermal maturities and the extent of water washing. The bulk of the GC-MS and isotopic data obtained suggest that the two oils are genetically related, or else originated from separate source rock units which contain very similar organic matter.
