During their licence tenure the PEL 25 licensees performed a protracted Year 1 round of seismic data test reprocessing, followed by selective survey line reprocessing and reinterpretation (eventually addressing approximately 352 line km of 1980-1992 vintage data), plus associated regional geological and geophysical studies, for little appreciable gain of insight into the petroleum prospectivity of the area. They elected to surrender the licence in early 1997, after failing to attract additional risk partners to help underwrite either the cost of acquiring sufficient new seismic to locate and mature a drillable prospect, or that of drilling the postponed Year 2 commitment well on the Greenways Prospect.
