Extrapolation of a prospective copper-mineralised Neoproterozoic target horizon into the subject licence from WMC's northerly-adjoining EL271 has prompted a brief investigation of its potential through aerial photointerpretation, detailed 1:15,000 scale geological mapping, and by stream sediment, soil and rock sample geochemical analysis. This work demonstrated the existence there of a 150 m thick, minor secondary Cu-mineralised dolomite-quartzite unit overlying the Blue Mine Conglomerate on the synclinal eastern flank of a faulted Willouran to Torrensian age sedimentary sequence, at a location 700 m north-northwest of Wooltana Homestead. Here the target horizon appeared to be largely absent, perhaps due to fault movement - related erosion, and it was concluded that the chance of it being better-developed downdip to the west did not warrant testing either by geophysics or by drilling.
