AIM: To complete a roughly 1 km-spaced, semi-detailed reflection seismic grid across an area of interest in the north of PEL 52, 3 new infill lines totalling 21.4 line km were acquired in the 1991 Mount Bruce Seismic Survey. Together with the reprocessing of approximately 400 line km of existing data, this work was intended to outline structures thought favourable for petroleum entrapment. METHODS: Survey dates: 30/4/91 - 2/5/91. Energy source: Vibroseis. CDP coverage: 6000%. Recording mode: 240 channel digital - Sercel S/N 368 recorder. SP interval: 40.0 metres, group interval: 20.0 metres. RESULTS: The conduct and interpretation of this survey has enabled the US-based operator to test unfamiliar seismic acquisition and processing parameters, and in conjunction with the reprocessing project has achieved confirmation of the reliability of the older seismic data, some of which was 10 years old. However, it appears that the parameters used have not provided optimum data quality, and must be redesigned for future seismic programmes in the licence area. Nevertheless, a satisfactory drilling location was identified for the Licence Year 2 commitment well.
