PEL 43 was surrendered as a result of the licensee being unable to attract a farm-in partner to help fund upcoming seismic surveying and well drilling commitments. A vehicle-borne reconnaissance soil gas geochemical survey of the eastern Simpson Desert region was conducted in licence Year 1, but with poor, inconclusive results attributed to suppression of any gas microseepages by the unseasonal very wet soil conditions.
