AIM: To evaluate a weak lead in the south-western Penola Trough, identified on seismic line RM80.08 as a potentially drillable roll-over anticline, prior to making a decision on whether to renew PEL 39 for a second term. METHODS: Survey dates: 21/4 - 25/4/94. Energy source: Vibroseis. CDP coverage: 15 200%. Recording mode: 304 channel digital - GEOCOR IV recorder. VP interval: 20.0 metres; group interval: 20.0 metres. RESULTS: 7 lines (6 dip, 1 strike) totalling 61 line km were acquired by Geco-Prakla (Australia) Pty Ltd, and processed in Brisbane, Qld, by Digital Exploration Ltd. Interpretation of the survey data confirmed the presence of a strong lead on the downthrown side of the major Diamond Swamp High. Consequently the PEL 39 joint venture agreed to renew the licence for another five-year term, during which they intend to mature the lead into a drillable prospect.
