AIM: In early 1993 a geophysical review of the Crankshaft 1 drilling outcome was performed, using a synthetic seismogram plus wireline log and seismic data to explain the structural invalidity. It appears that what was believed pre-drilling to be a seismic bright spot was in reality a collapsed section of the Lower Cretaceous drape structure on the block. In view of the DST results indicating that a gas/water zone was penetrated by the well, the operator felt that a higher structural position could be reached on either side of the collapsed area. Extra seismic of the order of 15-20 line km would be necessary to confirm a probable drillsite. In early 1994 the Crankshaft Seismic Survey was programmed to this end, besides including two extra lines to gain information around the Banyula Prospect area for an alternate drillsite. In all 6 dip lines totalling 27 line km were proposed. RESULTS: The survey was not performed due to the PEL 52 licensees' inability to attract farm-in funding for this and other future work commitments.
