BHP Petroleum (Aust.) Pty Ltd was granted the permit EPP 25 for 6 years on 13 March 1991, together with the adjoining EPP 26 also in the Duntroon Basin. During 1991 BHP reprocessed 2070 km of Getty Oil's 1983 and 1984 seismic data, and acquired a total of 3928 km of new seismic data in the DH91 survey. In 1992, the DH92 seismic survey with 871 km of new data was acquired. Two wells, Borda 1 and Vivonne 1, were drilled in 1993. No commercial hydrocarbon discoveries have been made in the permit, but good shows have been recorded from the Greenly 1 well drilled in EPP 26, also in 1993. On 17 February 1995 the EPP 25 permittees applied for consent to surrender the permit, citing untenable prospect drilling risk factors as their reason. Surrender of EPP 25 was gazetted on 2 November 1995.
