Wertaloona Seismic Survey - AIM:The 1981 Wertaloona Seismic Survey programme was designed by the PELs 5 and 6 Arrowie Block partners to provide the first high quality, multifold seismic reflection data in the area of likely preserved thick Cambrian sediments west of Lake Frome, for the purpose of delineating potential hydrocarbon traps.METHODS: Survey dates: 14-19/6/81 (experimental phase); 28/9 - 19/10/81 (production shooting). Energy source: Explosive line source (Redcord). CDP coverage: 1200%. Recording mode: 48 channel digital - Texas Instruments DFS V recorder. SP interval: 150.0m; group interval: 75.0m.RESULTS:7 lines totalling 184 line km of continuous reflection coverage were shot and recorded by GES Party 4 and processed in Singapore by Western Geophysical Company. Data interpretation performed by operator Delhi Petroleum resulted in the mapping of four marker horizons thought to represent events extending from the Wirrealpa Limestone through to the top of the pre-Cambrian, within which 10 structural leads were identified. Christmas Creek-ARR Seismic Survey - AIM:The 1982 Christmas Creek-ARR Seismic Survey programme was designed by the PELs 5 and 6 Arrowie Block partners to further define leads evident from the 1981 survey data, with the intent of maturing a prospect for drilling in 1983.METHODS: Survey dates: 27/9 - 15/10/82. Energy source: Explosive line source (Redcord). CDP coverage: 1200%. Recording mode: 48 channel digital - Sercel SN338HR recorder. SP interval: 150.0m; group interval: 75.0m.RESULTS:13 lines totalling 208 line km were acquired in the area of the Moorowie strong lead by GES Parties 4 and 6, and processed in Perth, WA by Geophysical Service, Inc. The results of both this and the preceding survey were used by the licensees to propose the first deep (> 1 000m) exploratory well in the Arrowie Basin, sited near the intersection of lines 82-QNR/81-CFF. The dry Moorowie 1 wildcat was drilled to TD 3246m in August-September 1983.
