This is the final in a series of reports prepared for MESA, in which the hydrocarbon source potential of the Pedirka, Simpson and western Eromanga Basins is re-evaluated. Previous work focused on the Eringa Trough of the Pedirka Basin and the superjacent Jurassic and Cretaceous sequence comprising the far western Eromanga Basin. This report addresses the source rock geochemistry of the western Eromanga Basin in the area northeast of the Birdsville Track Ridge, and east to southeast of the Simpson Basin/Poolowanna Trough. Interpretations are based largely on new analytical work commissioned by MESA on 22 core samples and one cuttings sample taken from exploration wells Pandieburra 1, Poonarunna 1 and Putamurdie 1 drilled in this area. The new database has been augmented with existing data from Mulapula 1 and Poonarunna 1 to provide MESA with all the geochemical data available on the area.
