Three structural closures have been defined by the R 10 survey. These are Galah in Permit SA-11 and Kookaburra West and Kookaburra East in Permit SA-10. Economic evaluation of the structures is currently being undertaken, but it is considered in the meantime that the prospects will be downgraded by limited size, extreme waterdepths, probable poor quality reservoirs, and the likelihood of gas filling. An attempt was made to determine the nature of strong shallow reflectors and domes that occur in the southeast part of permit SA-10, by magnetic modelling. Geological evidence on seismic suggests that they are of volcanic origin, but it was established through the modelling exercise that the domes are not basaltic. The problem was not solved, though, because the domes may instead be pyroclastics or reefal developments. The latter seems unlikely, however, in the face of geological evidence. By examining the structural evolution of the Rosella-Jabiru trend, it has been hypothesised that a regional physiographic division of Cretaceous sedimentation into a platform province to the northeast and a deep basin province to the southwest, separated by a linear hinge zone, occurred along the outer margin of a slab of collapsed continental crust.
