The 1976 Pillan Hill Seismic Survey was designed to extend high quality regional seismic coverage into areas of the Pedirka Basin where previous subsurface mapping data was sparse or non-existent. Vibroseis reflection data was obtained over the area between Mokari 1 and the Lake Thomas Seismic Survey grid, and also to the south of the Ephemeral Lakes over an indicated gravity anomaly. In addition, detail work was carried out on the Macumba trend and in other structurally anomalous areas, to mature two drilling sites for testing the hydrocarbon bearing potential of the buried Permian sedimentary sequence.METHODS: Survey dates: 10/7/76 - 28/11/76. Energy source: Vibroseis. CDP coverage: 1200%. Recording mode: 24 channel digital - DFS III recorder. SP/VP interval: 18 metres; group interval: 135 metres.28 new lines totalling 893 line km of reflection seismic data were acquired in the Macumba, East Border, Poolowanna and Umaroona areas.RESULTS:The Macumba 1 and Poolowanna 1 wildcat drilling locations were proposed.
