A review of both 1992 and 1994 aeromagnetic data for the region of Troubridge Shoal in Gulf St Vincent, and of a 1993-made interpretation of the first survey, was carried out for Canyon by a Houston-based geophysical consultant. The aim was to assess the value of updating the previous magnetic interpretive work, and if possible thereby reach better conclusions regarding the integrity of fault closure to a Cambrian structural trap that had been identified from PEL 53 seismic data. The author has determined that the magnetic data do demonstrate real fault separation between the principle basement fault blocks that define the trap. He also thinks that the resolution of the newer, 1994 aeromagnetic dataset would allow tighter depth conversion modelling constraints to be applied, were a more detailed magnetic anomaly gradient analysis required to be performed to improve Canyon's assessment of play risk.
