Torrens Energy Ltd contracted Terrex Seismic Services to record the 2009 Nilpena Seismic Survey on Geothermal Exploration Licences 230, 407 and 408. The location of the survey area was on the western flank of the Flinders Ranges, extending westwards toward Lake Torrens through the Nilpena Homestead area. The location of the survey was selected in order to provide a better understanding of the 3D architecture in the vicinity of the Parachilna Geothermal prospect. Primarily the site was chosen to determine depth to crystalline basement and to resolve the different sedimentary packages down to basement. During October 2009, a single Vibroseis line of 30 km length was recorded. Acquisition parameters were a Group Interval of 40 m and a VP Interval of 40 m, for a maximum nominal CDP coverage of 160 fold stack. No new upholes were recorded for this survey. All raw seismic data was processed by Velseis Processing in Brisbane. A ground gravity survey was also acquired along the line of traverse, with 150 stations read at 200 m intervals.
