PEL 558 was awarded to Liberty Resources on 16/11/2010 for an initial term of 5 years. Original surface area of the licence was 4496km2 .The licence was located in the southern part of the Murray Basin with the Murray River forming part of the northern boundary. The initial interest in the area was based around the coal and shale gas potential of the Renmark Trough, Canegrass Lobe and the Paringa Embayment. Office based studies concentrated on the early Cretaceous Monash Fm and the early Permian Urana Fm as representing the greatest potential for favourable source rocks. No field work was carried out and the licence was surrendered on 11/8/2014 before entering the year 5 commitment period.
