Micro-seismic Monitoring was used to image and evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed stimulation programs in Beach Energy Ltd petroleum drill holes Boston 1 and Boston 3. 1425 recording channels were deployed onto 10 lines arranged in a radial fashion around Boston 1 and Boston 3 drill holes which are located approximate 12 km south of Innamincka in PEL 218. Terrex Seismic provided the surveying, line clearing, recording equipment and logistics while Micro-Seismic Inc provided survey design, processing of the data and interpretation. It was proposed to have 12 fracture stimulations for the vertical Boston 1 drill hole and 10 stimulations were planned in the horizontal drill hole Boston 3. Formations to be tested included, the Patchawarra Formation, Murteree Shale, Epsilon and Roseneath Formations. Unfortunately due to logistical reasons only 3 fracture stimulations were completed in total. Never-the-less the, data recorded was deemed to be of good quality and was sufficient to evaluate the effectiveness of the recording technique and also the fracture stimulation program.
