Micro-seismic Monitoring was used to image and evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed stimulation program in Beach Energy Ltd petroleum horizontal drill hole Holdfast 2. 1120 recording channels were deployed onto 10 lines arranged in a radial fashion around Holdfast 2 which is located approximate 5km north west of Innamincka in PEL 218. Terrex Seismic provided the surveying, line clearing, recording equipment and logistics while Micro-Seismic Inc provided survey design, processing of the data and interpretation. In all approximately 100 hours of passive seismic recording was achieved which covered the 25 hours of pumping over 9 fraccs in the Murteree Shale. Micro-seismic Inc processed the data which was considered to be of excellent standard. Interpretation of the micro-seismic data suggests that the fraccs were contained to about 132 meters above the well bore and 120 m below. Further, the fraccs extend away from the well bore in a horizontal direction by up to 850m.
