A small area of rugged terrain located to the north-west of Freeling Heights in the Mount Painter district is being explored for possible economic base metal and uranium occurrences. Exploration has comprised helicopter radiometric coverage of the whole licence, plus later reconnaissance and follow-up stream sediment surveys. Most copper anomalies appear to be closely related to the lower Torrensian Blue Mine Conglomerate horizon. Diffuse surface occurrences of secondary copper staining were found throughout this unit. A minor occurrence of detrital torbenite was located approximately 1300 yards north-east of Willigan Hill. It is envisaged that future work will entail performing detailed mapping, soil sampling and ground radiometrics near the main east-west faults in the area, to determine any influence that local structures may have on mineralisation.
