Original 39 Esso samples and a further 23 drill cuttings and 2 drill core samples were studied to provide a basis for subsurface correlation with Crayfish 1 well. It was concluded that :Chama 1A penetrated only the top of the reservoir sequence seen in Crayfish 1 and reservoir quality undrilled beneath TD could be at least equivalent to that at Crayfish 1. Regional unconformities at top lower hughesi (=top Pretty Hill), top striatus (intra Eumeralla), top pannosus (=mid Cretaceous) and top Cretaceous provide a valuable framework to understanding of the regional depositional patterns. The recognition of coaly facies within the Eumeralla Formation hughesi to striatus Zones has regional log correlative value and may have good oil source potential.
