2034.81 line km of 240 channel, 60 fold seismic data were recorded from 20.1.83 to 25.2.83. Quality is better than previous surveys because of more sophisticated recording and advanced seismic data processing techniques. The seismic interpretation incorporated data from the Platypus 1 and Echidna 1 wells and the 1983 Duntroon Survey. Time structure maps have been compiled at 5 levels (deep form / basement, composite Lower Cretaceous Horizon, near top Platypus Formation, base Tertiary unconformity and base Tertiary carbonates) and 2 anticlinal features have been selected for further investigation.

Notes: Includes three operations-acquisition reports as attachments to final report: i) Operations report. (Geophysical Service Inc., 160 pages); ii) Navigation report (Geophysical Service Inc., 160 pages); iii) Data Processing report (Merlin Geophysical Co. Ltd, 62 pages). A geochemical sniffer survey (Inter Ocean Systems, 50 pages) is indexed separately. Fifty seismic sections (listed in contents) are not included in the PDF. Included report: 1983 geochemical sniffer survey, Duntroon, operations report. The sniffer survey, designed to test for hydrocarbon seeps within the seawater below the thermocline was conducted during the Duntroon Seismic Survey. The sniffer detected 29 THC (total hydrocarbon) anomalies which ranged from minute THC rises to major THC rise with significant increases in heavy hydrocarbon components. This major anomaly was located off the west coast of Kangaroo Island, but was not of the same magnitude when re-crossed due to difficulties in traversing the exact same location. The anomaly is discrete rather than continuous, with gases building up in the sea floor mud and venting periodically. Geographic Locality: Point Avoid, West Point;Wedge Island;Cape De Couedic;Duntroon Basin Seismic Survey Doc No: Env 04798
