Comprises details of the operations, field acquisition, results and interpretation of the seismic survey. The object was to carry out a reconnaissance survey with a Vibroseis energy source in the Tantanoola area, 25 kms west of Mount Gambier, and test field vibrator sweep and production recording parameters to select those optimal for proposed future seismic surveys in the onshore Otway Basin. Four crooked lines totalling 27.945 kms of 24 fold seismic coverage were recorded, including tie lines T84- 1 and T84-2 connecting the spread to dry wells Burrungule 1 and Lake Bonney 1. Survey results are integrated with 1984 re-processed data from the 1973 Tartwaup survey and interpreted at the top of the Pebble Point Formation (which approximates the base of the Tertiary sequence). In general the area appears to have excellent potential for the structural entrapment of hydrocarbons. Due to the faulted nature of the area a high-density of seismic is recommended to adequately define drilling porspects, namely: a Waarre Formation target in the northern area and a Tertiary target in the southern area.
