TARGET:Primary target was migrating oil trapped in Algebuckina Sandstone at sites along the Cooryaninna Anticline.EXPLORATION: - Landsat survey, - reconnaissance seismic survey (Curdimurka - Marree Seismic Survey) over the Marree Block in 1985, - soil gas sampling over identified leads, - study of areas of potential source rock maturation and an investigation of migration as a possible means of oil entrapment.

Notes: See Env 6756 for seismic survey reports. - Includes: - Water well location plans and TMI, Bouguer gravity and structure contour maps (top Algebuckina Sandstone) compiled from SADME data. - PEL-31, Marree Block, Eromanga Basin. Farmout brochure, June 1987. fiche: 1,2,11,12, p: 30-61, 7 plans; 5 fig. Includes reports on: - Migration of hydrocarbons and groundwater towards PEL 31, southeastern Eromanga Basin, South Australia. he aims included the identification and assessment of potential source rocks, and assessment of the potential for hydrocarbons to have migrated into, be trapped and be recoverable from structures within PEL 31. - NOTES TO ACCOMPANY THE LANDSAT INTERPRETATION OF PEL 31, MARREE BLOCK. Photogeological interpretation was carried out on 1:250,000 Landsat colour composite imagery to clarify the structural geology of the Marree Block of the petroleum exploration permit, PEL 31 (Figure 1). The Marree Block covers an area on the southern edge of the Eromanga Basin and is situated to the north and west of the town of Marree. The land surface in the block slopes gently northwestward toward the Lake Eyre depression and northeastward toward the Lake Eyre depression and northeastward toward the Lake Blanche - Lake Gregory area. Structurally, the area is dominated on the Landsat by the Cooryanna Dome, a north-south trending eroded anticline which forms high ground in the northwest of the block. Elsewhere, folding is subtle. Several major linear trends are identified on the Landsat which generally are thought as old basement trends. As the Mesozoic section is probably fairly thin in the block, many of the interpreted structural features may be basement or early Palaeozoic structures which are ghosting through the sedimentary skin. - PEL 31, South Australia. Hydrocarbons microseepage geochemical survey. total of 870 interstitial gas samples were collected over seismic lines A85-MA04, A85-MA05 and A85 MA06 (Curdimurka - Marree Seismic Survey), corresponding to 173.2 km of seismic line. Hydrocarbon gas microseepage anomalies were found along part of all lines. Some areas showed characteristic fault-signature microseepage while others appear reservoir related. - Remote sensing interpretation in PEL 31, Marree Block, South Australia. Objectives were to expand on an earlier Landsat interpretation and to integrate the remote sensing (Landsat MSS data at 1:250000, NOAA night thermal imagery, 1:100000 orthophoto mosaics and colour air photographs at 1:87000) as fully as possible into the results of a seismic program and a microseepage geochemical survey. A total of 25 leads were designated.
