AIM:The 1982 Christmas Creek Seismic Survey was designed to cover a wide area of the sparsely explored western farmout blocks of PELs 5 and 6, where Eromanga Basin sediments thin and overly sub-basins of variously aged prospective sediments. Primary targets for reconnaisance were Mesozoic structural traps, and where present, structural traps within the underlying Triassic, Permian and older sedimentary sequences.METHODS: Survey dates: 14/2/82 - 13/11/82. Energy source: explosive line source (Geoflex), and dynamite in shotholes where cord ploughing was impractical. CDP coverage: 600%, 1200% and 2400%. Recording mode: 48 channel digital - Sercel 338HR and Texas Instruments DFS V recorders. SP/VP interval: 150 and 300 metres, group interval: 37.5 and 75 metres.111 lines totalling 2682 line km (2659 line km in SA) were shot by Geophysical Exploration Services Pty Ltd Parties 4 and 6, working independently to complete the programme on schedule. Record processing was carried out in Singapore by Western Geophysical Corp. and in Adelaide by Geophysical Service Inc. The interpretation was performed in-house by Block operator Delhi Petroleum.RESULTS:[Note: The operator's survey final report text includes detailed aims and results for respective survey lines from each Block]. The 1982 seismic work has led to the recognition of many new structural leads. In the Dalhousie and Pedirka Blocks, prior surveys had indicated several large structures, and the Christmas Creek lines have substantially extended the licensees' knowledge of these.
