This licence relinquishment report includes a description of regional stratigraphy and summary of exploration seismic interpretation and drilling results. The quality and distribution within (and projected outside of) PELs 23 and 30 of the source rocks within the Rodda beds (and within the Ouldburra Formation to a lesser extent) is identified and documented. The quality and distribution of suitable potential reservoirs, particularly in relation to known source rocks, are also highlighted. Seismic interpretation, correlation with rock stratigraphy, and structural interpretation indicate at least 2 observed generations of deformation and hence timing of structural trapping. Comalco drilled 5 dry petroleum exploration wells, two of which (Ungoolya 1 and Karlaya 1) found encouraging hydrocarbon indications. Giles 1, Ungoolya 1 and Lairu 1 were drilled on structural traps formed during Siluro-Devonian time, while Karlaya 1 and Munta 1 were primarily late Proterozoic stratigraphic / structural traps. Leads and potential targets are delineated (Ungoolya - Giles area and the Cadney Park - Manya area) and follow-up exploration is recommended.
