AIM:The 1978 Perigundi Seismic Survey was the fourth modern, digital Vibroseis survey conducted in the Cooper Basin, and was based on similar concepts to the 1973 Mudlankie, 1975 Tooroopie and 1976 Callamurra regional surveys, namely: 1) to further detail and hopefully mature existing prospects and leads; 2) to extend the area of good quality seismic data coverage; and 3) to provide ties between undrilled prospective areas and wells as a framework for future surveys. Survey dates: 27/6/77 - 10/12/77. Energy source: Vibroseis. CDP coverage: 1200%. Recording mode: 24 channel digital - Texas Instruments DFS-III recorder. SP/VP interval: 150.0 metres; group interval 75.0 metres.RESULTS:76 semi-detailed lines totalling 1038 line km (of which 4 line km were recorded in Qld) were acquired by SSL and processed by them in Adelaide.Important new stratigraphic and structural information was obtained over 34 existing leads, and further drilling sites were matured at Moomba, Garanjanie, Waukatanna, Welcome Lake, Strzelecki, Mudlalee, Mudera and McKinlay.The operator's interpretation of the Perigundi seismic data has demonstrated increased accuracy in mapping of structural relief on the main features investigated, besides giving sharper definition of many associated smaller features. Also, greater stratigraphic and structural detail has been made discernible in the Lower Permian and ?Ordovician/?Cambrian basement sections, allowing for more confident prospect geological history reconstructions. Finally, the opportunity has been taken to improve C-Horizon, P-Horizon and pre-Permian basement seismic pick time/depth conversion procedures, based on the data acquired from the Moomba Field area where well control in the Cooper Basin is closest.
