The structural relationships of the sediments of the Boorthanna Trough are discussed. This feature has an areal extent of approximately 6480 square miles, with dimensions of 32 miles by 180 miles north to south. The structural limits of the trough appear to be constrained by normal down-to-the-basin faults and monoclines. Average depth to the base of the Palaeozoic section is 5000 feet, as determined from well and seismic control. Three seismic horizons have been identified and correlated, including a Basement-Devonian Horizon and 2 horizons within the Permian section. Emphasis is placed on the distribution of Devonian sediments and the structural and stratigraphic aspects of the overlying lower Permian sediments, in particular, the limits of the lowest Permian section and the overall distribution of the overlying Permian sediments. Additional stratigraphic-structural drilling is recommended to further evaluate petroleum prospects.
