An assessment of the petroleum potential of the Pedirka farmout area, occasioned by the February 1989 compulsory 25% acreage relinquishment of PELs 5 and 6. Items reviewed include Block geology, farmout arrangements, future commitments, an inventory of prospects and leads, and the intended relinquishment plan. At present 16 large prospects (4-way dip closures) of the order of 500 to 8000 acres in size remain untested, as do 100 weak leads requiring further seismic delineation. Exploration includes 7944 line kms of seismic and 12 wells, plus regional gravity and magnetics surveys, at a cost approaching $90 million. All wells were plugged and abandoned, but Poolowanna 1 encountered a small oil flow in the Lower Jurassic and a small wet gas flow in the Upper Triassic, Walkandi 1 intersected fair oil shows in the Lower Jurassic and in the Middle and Lower Triassic and Kuncherinna 1 reported trace oil shows in the Lower Jurassic.

Notes: - This report forms part of a second (and final) relinquishment data subset (B) filed in Envelope 4891 relating to the Pedirka Block. It reports on 14 000 square kms remaining after the second Block acreage surrender in August 1989 and relinquished in March 1990, following the satisfactory rehabilitation of former worksites.See also vols 2 and 3 for earlier assessment reports (March and August 1987) which include some data not in this final version. - Includes regional C-Horizon time structure map, regional structural elements and structure-related prospects maps, isopach and porosity maps for Permian, Triassic and Jurassic / Cretaceous reservoir units, net shale, isopach, total organic carbon (TOC) and vitrinite reflectance maps for the principal Jurassic and lesser Triassic source rocks, and copies of the composite well logs for Poolowanna 1 and 2, plus tabulations of regional stratigraphy and reserve potential parameters of significant prospects and leads.
