This airborne petroleum geochemical survey of suitable parts of the licence area, on an irregular set of 5 km spaced parallel traverses, failed to detect concentrations of hydrocarbon gases in the near-surface atmosphere that could either be related to the presence of petroleum fields at depth, or be an indication of currently active petroleum migration. Evaluation of other areas of the northern Flinders Ranges within PEL 26 containing possible prospective Proterozoic sediments was very limited due to equipment interference stemming from vegetation effects (biogenic methane) and rough topography. It is recommended that target areas within such terrain should be evaluated by a ground geochemical method.
