Numerous analyses of Katnook 2 drilling results, well logs, open and cased- hole drillstem tests and extended production testing are discussed by various specialist reservoir engineering reports. Current conclusions are that testing so far of the principal Pretty Hill Sandstone gas accumulation exhibits a very complex pressure transient response, such behaviour being characteristic of discretely multi-layered (compartmentalised') reservoirs often encountered in fluvial sedimentary facies. The three major gas-producing zones, 11b, 12 and 13, show similar model geometries in this respect, suggestive of low sinuosity and restricted extent but possibly multi-stacked braided channel sands within the upper Pretty Hill interval. Estimates of channel width and average reservoir permeability have been made using the correlation of type curves with the measured pressure responses. As an example, the computer simulation of Zone 12 test results reflects a channel sand body 800 feet wide and closed at one end 300 feet from the well. The Zone 12 long-term well test indicates high negative skin adjacent to the wellbore, i.e. it seems as if certain higher permeability layers, existing in relatively poor communication, are acting as linear fracture' conduits to fluid flow within an envelope of much tighter sands. During extended production testing the Pretty Hill reservoir pressure drawdown rate behaved infinitely, therefore conclusive quantitative data on the field gas reserves could not be obtained. However, from available static pressure readings the average initial reservoir pressure has been assessed as 4057 psi absolute (27,972 kPa) at a measured subsea datum of 9262 feet (2825 metres). Working from this figure, and assuming that the Pretty Hill reservoir constitutes a single gas-water system with no pressure support from an underlying aquifer, the resultant calculated proven, probable and possible OGIP lies in the order of 35.5 BCF (1.005 BCM), based in part on an observed 22.1 psi pressure depletion after 173.1 MMcf volume of gas production.
