6 cuttings samples from the depth interval 5740-5800 feet in the basal Pretty Hill Sandstone shale sequence (Casterton Beds) were analysed by total organic carbon (TOC) analysis and Rock-Eval pyrolysis to screen and identify the interval(s) believed to contain Botryococcus-rich oil shale. Cuttings from the intervals 5780-5790 and 5790-5800 feet were selected on the basis of the TOC and pyrolysis results, which are presented in standard tabular and graphic formats. Results of the solvent extraction and GC-MS biomarker type geochemical analysis are in a separate report (Part 2).
