This report, prepared as part of the renewed licence Year 6 exploration work commitment, summarises Beach Petroleums understanding of the geology of PEL 28 that is relevant to hydrocarbon exploration. From this it also points the way to future exploration directions in the tenement. Recent data from within the licence have been incorporated into the report as have data from adjacent tenements, thus giving a regional continuity to the geological elements and concepts. Specifically the report summarises the stratigraphy, structure, distribution and characteristics of reservoirs, hydrocarbon occurrences and source rocks, as well as modelling basement depths and constructing geological cross-sections that incorporate predicted maturation profiles. As part of this work log data from older wells have been digitised, allowing for the first time, displays of the logs on consistent and uniform scales. In addition, new palynological datings have been performed on several older wells in order to refine stratigraphic boundaries, and new source rock work has quantified knowledge of the source potential of some stratigraphic intervals.
