AIM: This seismic survey of 35 lines with a total coverage of 200.1 line kms was shot to further detail leads identified by the 1985 Burrungule Seismic Survey, and thereby attempt to upgrade at least two of them to drillable prospect status. The work also fulfilled the Licence Year 2 exploration commitment of at least 200 line kms of seismic acquisition.Five leads in the region of Mount Gambier were investigated, with two additional lines being shot later in the east and north of the licence. These latter lines were intended to help define the eastward extent of the Tartwaup Fault, besides establishing seismic stratigraphic ties with regional data obtained by Ultramar Australia Inc. in their adjoining PEL 32.METHODS:Survey dates: 24 March - 9 May 1986.Energy source: Vibroseis.CDP coverage: 1200% and 2400%.Recording mode: 96 channel digital - MDS-10V recorder.SP interval: 120.0m and 60.0m; group interval: 15.0m and 30.0m.RESULTS: Data quality from this survey is regarded by the operator as generally poor to fair, but occasionally good, being widely influenced by the cavernous nature of the near-surface Gambier Limestone. To cope with this expected difficulty statics in the survey area were studied extensively using both uphole and refraction shooting.
