145 core samples (representing organic-rich Upper Proterozoic and Cambrian intervals in 11 wells) taken from the SADME and BMR Core Libraries were examined for palynomaceral identification and to judge levels of organic (source rock) maturity, using both transmitted and ultraviolet light microscopy. Most of the core samples were barren of organic microfossils, and the amount of organic matter rarely reached source rock levels.
