Report comprises a company scouting technical review of the prospectivity of the South Australian offshore petroleum exploration Area 1 in the eastern Duntroon Basin, comprising 336 offshore graticular blocks or approximately 23,343 square kms of the continental shelf west of Kangaroo Island. This area was originally advertised in the South Australian Government Gazette on 10th May 1979 as being open for bids on the grant of a petroleum exploration permit with a period of tenure of six years, and was subsequently re-gazetted on 20th December 1979 and again on 15th September 1981, along with three adjoining offshore areas (Areas 2-4) encompassing the remainder of the States continental shelf province in the Great Australian Bight region. Area 1 was later taken up as EPP 21 by a foreign consortium to which the South Australian Oil and Gas Corporation Pty Ltd farmed-in during 1983.
