This study formed a SADME-funded pilot to the larger, industry-sponsored Otway Basin petrophysical research project geology and petrophysics of petroleum reservoirs from the Otway Group, Otway Basin, which has been reported on elsewhere as the outcomes of NERDDC Project 1424 and SENRAC Project 3/89. The analytical data comprises:(1) special core analysis results for Katnook 1 - (porosity and permeability to air at overburden conditions, absolute grain density, clay mineralogy as determined by x-ray diffraction, cation exchange capacity, formation factor and resistivity index, and air/water capillary pressure determination using the porous plate restored state technique); and(2) conventional core analysis results for Katnook 2 - (air permeability and helium injection porosity at both ambient and applied overburden pressure conditions, determination of absolute grain density, and of cation exchange capacity using wet chemistry techniques).
