AIM: To acquire a minimum of 50 line kms of detail seismic by 31 March 1992, to satisfy the varied PEL 38 Year 2 licence work commitment. Following the drilling of Greenways 1 (VP 296, line OHE 86-134), where a drillstem test run in a basal Eumeralla Formation sand produced a minor gas flow which quickly died, and a subsequent water flow, the licensees were of the opinion that the well may have intersected a gas-water contact in a downdip position within a faulted reservoir unit on the Greenways unconformity trap play. Accordingly the operator Mosaic Oil re-interpreted the Greenways Prospect structure and concluded that additional seismic control was needed for fault recognition and to pinpoint a second, updip drilling location. The planned detail seismic grid was also configured to enable confirmation of N-S aligned rollover on the North Greenways lead, a separate structural target which might be worthy of inclusion in the licence Years 4-5 drilling programme. METHODS: Survey dates: 3-9 January 1992. Energy source: Vibroseis. CDP coverage: 12 000%. Recording mode: 120 channel digital - GEOCOR IV recorder. SP interval: 15.0m; group interval: 15.0m. RESULTS: This seismic survey was successful in defining a structurally higher drilling location than that tested by Greenways 1, with two apical locations mapped on adjacent fault blocks, at VPs 270 and 306 on line G 92-02. However, it is felt that seismic control is still inadequate for ascertaining whether the numerous secondary faults provide either adequate lateral seals or alternatively the necessary continuous conduits for the vertical migration of hydrocarbons into the higher levels of the trap complex. In particular the 27 upholes shot in this survey do not provide enough density of statics data to correct for many localised differences in near-surface seismic velocity, so if further seismic is recorded over the area, the mapped fault patterns may have to be revised.
