This report is arranged around a discussion of the principal structural features of a number of time-stratigraphic based, interpretive regional maps depicting fault traces, deep structuring and crustal lineaments. Conclusions are drawn for each time slice regarding structural controls on sedimentation, reservoir development, petroleum migration pathways, structural growth in response to tectonic events, basement coupling effects on faulting, folding and intrusion styles, and the author relates some theories behind the distribution of known petroleum accumulations, considering the application of Gussow's Principle to regional hydrocarbon emplacement mechanisms.
